Abruzzo is the ‘greenest region’ in Europe. Almost half of the region is made up of national parks and protected nature reserves (the largest in Europe). There are 2 national parks, 1 UNESCO geopark, 1 regional park, and 38 protected nature reserves. Abruzzo has a vast array of walking tracks, however it is also rugged and the changing weather on the mountains can make it dangerous and unpredictable.
